Housing programme and risks ahead
CNBC Indonesia (14 October 2026) quoted housing task-force chairman Hashim Djojohadikusumo as saying the 3-million-homes programme is raising cement demand and helping reduce oversupply. Meanwhile, Kontan noted that Bank Indonesia held the BI Rate at 5.75% on 21 October 2026 while raising the deposit facility rate to 5%. Sector risks include higher interest rates, slower government spending, a weaker rupiah and foreign selling.
What does it mean for building-material buyers?
The dry season and year-end project deadlines usually lift demand for cement, ready-mix concrete and deliveries. Contractors should lock in supply schedules early, compare per-bag or per-ton prices before December, and allow for bulk-truck waiting times in busy project areas. For home renovations, buying bagged cement in stages that follow the casting schedule helps avoid lumps from storing it too long.
