Indonesia Construction Materials Price Index October 2026 Up 9.59% Year on Year

The Indonesia construction materials price index (IHPB) for October 2026 stood at 111.99, up 0.31% from September and 9.59% from October 2025, according to BPS data compiled by Databoks. The biggest monthly increases were in sandpaper, power sockets, padlocks, roof tiles and electric cable, while PVC pipe, copper taps and bricks fell. Project budgets should therefore be built item by item rather than with one average increase.

Indonesia construction materials price index by building group
The wholesale price index (IHPB) for construction materials tracks prices at wholesale level, before goods reach building shops or sites. That makes it an early signal of where material costs are heading. In October 2026 every building group was still up on the year:
- Residential and non-residential buildings: 112.92 (up 9.94% y/y; 0.15% m/m).
- Roads, bridges and ports: 111.67 (up 9.93% y/y; 0.50% m/m).
- Electricity, gas, water and communication installations: 110.11 (up 8.90% y/y; down 0.03% m/m).
- Other buildings: 109.34 (up 7.61% y/y).
- Public works for agriculture: 111.06 (up 7.33% y/y).
Materials with the sharpest moves
On the item-level index (base 2023=100), the highest monthly rises were sandpaper (120.56; up 8.52%), power sockets (113.15; up 4.23%), iron or steel padlocks (106.82; up 2.30%), ordinary roof tiles (114.93; up 1.78%) and electric cable (144.36; up 1.50%). Cable stands out because its level is already 44% above the base year.
The steepest monthly falls were PVC pipe (106.77; down 0.85%), copper water taps (122.36; down 0.47%), bricks (110.32; down 0.42%), aluminium pipe (105.28; down 0.27%) and aluminium door and window frames (140.91; down 0.16%).
What it means for building and renovation costs
An annual rise of almost 10% matches what developers see on the ground. Speaking to Kompas.com on 20 October 2026, Yulistyo Ramon Adianto, a housing developer in Demak and Semarang, said a standard house that used to cost Rp3.5 million per square metre to build can now cost Rp4 million. He put this year's increase in material prices at 10–15%, citing cement, PVC pipe, steel and galvalume, on top of higher builder wages.
Keep in mind that IHPB is an index, not a rupiah price. Shop prices still vary by brand, region and delivery cost.
Tips for material budgets
- Lock in prices for electric cable and roof tiles early if a project runs for several more months.
- For PVC pipe and bricks, which are easing, compare several quotes before buying in bulk.
- Keep electrical materials separate from structural items in the cost estimate, since their prices are moving differently.
- Add a contingency, for example for delivery costs and price gaps between suppliers.
