Building Material Prices Indonesia, September 2026: Construction Wholesale Index Up 9.63%

New BPS data show building material prices in Indonesia still rising: the construction wholesale price index reached 111.64 in September 2026, led by asphalt and reinforcing steel.
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded the wholesale price index (IHPB) for building and construction materials at 111.64 in September 2026. That is 0.19% higher than August and 9.63% higher than September 2025. The index is widely used as an early signal of material costs, because changes at the wholesale level tend to pass through to property and infrastructure project prices.
Which building groups rose most
According to Databoks' summary of the BPS data, the biggest annual increase was in residential and non-residential buildings, at 10.15%. Next came public works for roads, bridges and ports (9.60%), electricity, gas, water and communication installations (9.08%), agricultural public works (8.41%) and other buildings (7.61%). In other words, housing is feeling the strongest cost pressure.
The materials that moved
Year on year, Periskop.id reported that asphalt rose 27.91%, reinforcing steel bar rose 11.99%, crushed stone 11.86%, sand 8.78% and cement 7.44%. Month on month in September, the biggest increases were screws (6.66%), sand-and-gravel mix (3.92%), zinc sheets (3.15%), power sockets (2.55%) and timber battens (2.50%). On the other side, bolts and nuts fell 4.26%, bricks fell 1.58% and steel sanitary fixtures fell 0.65% from the previous month.
What it means for material buyers
An increase of almost 10% in a year means a project budget prepared last year is probably no longer enough. Practical steps include updating the bill of quantities with current prices, locking in prices for structural materials such as rebar and cement once the project schedule is firm, and comparing several brands of equivalent quality. For small items such as screws and electrical accessories, the sharp monthly moves show why it pays to buy to need and to check prices regularly.
BPS publishes the IHPB every month, so businesses can use it as a regular reference for contract negotiations and price adjustments.
