Indonesia Housing Programme Reaches 1.79 Million Units by October 2026: Demand for Building Materials

印尼住房计划截至2026年10月完成179万套,为建材行业带来巨大需求

Indonesia's housing ministry says its Indonesia housing programme and partners built or renovated 1,790,081 homes between January 2025 and 15 October 2026 — a major source of building material demand.

Indonesia's Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) says a total of 1,790,081 homes were built or renovated between January 2025 and 15 October 2026. The figure was presented by PKP Secretary-General Didyk Choirul in Jakarta on 20 October 2026, as reported by ANTARA.

The breakdown

Of the total, 1,103,918 units were new construction and 686,163 were renovations. The result involves the whole housing ecosystem: the ministry's own budget programmes such as Bedah Rumah home repairs, local governments, other ministries and agencies, banks channelling FLPP subsidised mortgages and KUR housing loans, developers and private companies through CSR.

On the same day, PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait met National Development Planning Minister Rachmat Pambudy to discuss the ministry's 2025–2029 roadmap. According to the ministry's release, programmes funded by its own budget delivered 62,579 units in 2025 and 236,300 in 2026, while support from outside that budget delivered 789,831 units in 2025 and 701,371 in 2026.

Medium-term targets

Under the 2025–2029 national medium-term plan, the ministry, as coordinator of the housing ecosystem, targets 10 million units by 2029, including 3 million through its own budget. Minister Maruarar stressed that housing cannot rely on the state budget alone and needs cooperation from many parties, including private developers.

Impact on the materials market

Every new home needs cement, rebar, bricks or lightweight blocks, roof trusses, roof tiles, ceramic tiles, paint, pipes and sanitary ware. Renovating hundreds of thousands of homes also drives demand for roofing, flooring and paint. For manufacturers, distributors and shops, the programme is a steady source of demand, especially for affordable products with SNI-certified quality. The challenge is getting materials to project sites spread across many regions on time.
