Public Works Ministry BIM for Sekolah Rakyat Phase II: CDE, 4D–5D and KPIs

Public Works Ministry BIM is now being used to supervise construction of Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) Phase II. According to Akurat (29 Oct 2026), each school's 3D digital model is compared directly with site progress on the ministry's Common Data Environment (CDE), and contractor performance is scored with key performance indicators. It marks a shift in government project supervision from paper reports to digital data.
Key Facts
- The Ministry of Public Works applies BIM integrated with the PU CDE to Sekolah Rakyat Phase II construction (2026-10-29, source: Akurat, 29 Oct 2026).
- Site progress is compared with the 3D model using photos, video and S-curves (2026-10-29, source: Akurat, 29 Oct 2026).
- 4D and 5D BIM link the model to the schedule and the cost of works (2026-10-29, source: Akurat, 29 Oct 2026).
- Contractors carry out a self-assessment every two weeks as part of KPI scoring (2026-10-29, source: Akurat, 29 Oct 2026).
- The Directorate General of Construction Development and Glodon Indonesia launched the AI x 5D BIM Master Challenge 2026 (2026-05-26, source: Directorate General of Construction Development, Ministry of Public Works, 26 May 2026 (AI x 5D BIM Master Challenge)).
How Public Works Ministry BIM works at Sekolah Rakyat
Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has pushed for Sekolah Rakyat Phase II to be supervised digitally. Each work package has a BIM model uploaded to the PU CDE, a shared data space where the owner, supervising consultant and contractor see the same documents. Supervisors upload photos, video and S-curves from the site, so gaps between plan and actual progress show up quickly.
With 4D BIM each building element is linked to the schedule; with 5D BIM the same element is linked to cost. If structural work falls behind, the effect on finishing works and the budget can be calculated early. At the end of the project, documents and models are handed over digitally, giving school managers asset data for maintenance.
KPIs and fortnightly reviews
Akurat reports that contractor performance is scored with KPIs and that every two weeks contractors must carry out a self-assessment. This encourages contractors to keep data tidy, such as installed material volumes, progress on each floor and quality-test records. For suppliers, it means product documents such as SNI certificates, technical data sheets and delivery notes should be available in digital form.
An AI and 5D BIM ecosystem
Earlier, on 26 May 2026, the Directorate General of Construction Development and Glodon Indonesia launched the AI x 5D BIM Master Challenge 2026 to encourage young talent to master BIM-based cost modelling. The launch at AEC Connect Day 2026 was led by Kimron Manik, Director of Construction Workforce Competence and Productivity, who stressed that Indonesian construction players must keep up with digital technology. Activities like this widen the pool of people ready to work with digital models on both public and private projects.
For the building-materials industry, the direction is clear: projects will increasingly demand accurate volume data and delivery schedules. homeX, an Indonesian one-stop building materials and furniture service platform with a showroom, warehousing and delivery, keeps product data and delivery schedules organised so project teams can use them easily.
