AZKO's 29 Distribution Centres and a Merak Bitumen Terminal: Materials Logistics 2026

Two October 2026 stories show that the building materials distribution centre and storage facilities now decide whether goods are available. AZKO (PT Aspirasi Hidup Indonesia Tbk/ACES) relies on 29 Kawan Lama Group distribution centres from Aceh to Papua for 283 stores, while PT Redeco Petrolin Utama (RPU) opened 12,000 m³ of bitumen tanks in Merak, Banten. The message is the same: stock close to buyers cuts delivery time and cost.
Key Facts
- AZKO is supported by 29 DCs: 6 in Sumatra, 8 in Java, 5 in Kalimantan, 4 in Sulawesi, 2 in Nusa Tenggara, 2 in Maluku, 2 in Papua (2026-10-16, source: CNBC Indonesia, "Supply chain infrastructure strengthens AZKO business scale" (16 Oct 2026)).

The 29 distribution centres behind AZKO
According to CNBC Indonesia (16 October 2026), AZKO product availability is maintained by the supply chain of its parent, Kawan Lama Group. The group runs 29 integrated distribution centres: six in Sumatra (including Batam and Tanjung Morawa), eight in Java, five in Kalimantan, four in Sulawesi, and two each in Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua.
For heavy shipping volumes the company uses a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) so stock data and distribution flows are fully visible. A fleet of trucks of various types and capacities handles delivery from DCs to stores and customers.
Store expansion into new cities
ACES targets 25–30 new AZKO stores and 40–50 NEKA stores in 2026. By September 2026 it had opened 19 AZKO stores, including in Berau, Pasuruan, Timika, Kuningan, Baturaja, Jepara and Mamuju, plus 21 NEKA stores. AZKO sales grew 6.5% year-to-date to July 2026. ACES director Gregory S. Widjaja said the focus is on the product portfolio, a stronger supply chain and the use of digital technology and AI.
The pattern is clear: stores in smaller cities such as Timika or Mamuju only work if a regional warehouse is close enough to restock them regularly.
A Merak bitumen terminal for road materials
On the heavy construction side, RPU, a subsidiary of PT Chandra Daya Investasi Tbk (CDI), inaugurated a bitumen tank facility in Merak on 23 October 2026. Three new tanks of 3,000, 4,000 and 5,000 m³ bring RPU's total to 75 tanks for petrochemicals, oil, lubricants and bitumen. The company calls bitumen a key material for building and maintaining roads, and sees synergy with Aster on supply and Chandra Shipping International and SCG Barito Logistics on transport.
What it means for contractors and project owners
- Lead time: goods stocked in a regional warehouse can be delivered faster than goods shipped in from Java.
- Delivery cost: the distance from warehouse to site drives cost; ask which warehouse the goods ship from.
- Stock certainty: suppliers using a WMS can usually give more accurate stock information before confirming an order.
- Phased delivery: for large projects, ask for deliveries in stages that follow the work sequence so materials do not pile up and get damaged on site.
The building materials distribution centre trend
Both stories match the market direction: retail and logistics players are investing in spread-out warehouses, stock data systems and their own fleets. homeX is building a similar model as a one-stop building materials and furniture platform in Indonesia, combining showroom, warehousing and delivery so project buyers get goods on time.
