Cement Price per Bag Hits Rp75,000–85,000 as Bima, West Nusa Tenggara Runs Out for Two Weeks

A shortage in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, pushed the cement price per bag in local shops to Rp75,000–85,000 after stocks ran out for about two weeks from early October 2026.
Cement supply in Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, has been disrupted since early October 2026. As reported by EkbisNTB.com on 21 October 2026, several building-material shops in Woha and Palibelo districts ran out of stock for about two weeks.
Stock sells out immediately
Juraidin, head of trade at the Bima Industry and Trade Office, said the shortage was confirmed after officials checked shops and distributors. Incoming supply could not keep up with demand. He gave the example of one shop that received 50 bags three days before the inspection and had already sold out when officials visited.
The causes: production and sea transport
According to meetings with distributors, supply from a producer in South Kalimantan has fallen because of lower output linked to limited coal for fuel. In addition, large vessels serving Bima are rarely available. For one brand, shipments that usually came four times a month have since early September come only twice, each carrying about 2,000 tonnes.
Shop prices
Cement costs about Rp70,600 per bag at distributor warehouses and Rp75,000 to Rp85,000 per bag in shops, depending on brand and distribution costs. Distributors have requested a larger allocation, and the local office will keep monitoring other brands.
Lessons for the supply chain
The Bima case shows that in an archipelago, material availability depends on more than factory capacity. Indonesia as a whole has surplus cement capacity, yet fuel problems and ship schedules can still leave one region short. For contractors and shops, keeping buffer stock, having more than one supply source and planning purchases early are key to avoiding stalled projects.
